Senior Season in Full Swing!

May 29th, 2007 , Posted in Uncategorized

June is full, and July is getting there…if you are planning on a Senior session, please call soon to make sure we have time to get it finished before school starts and the yearbook photo is due.

Here are some shots of Carly…OK, maybe a little more than "some"…but she had so many great ones that I couldn’t pick just a few!

Bryce

May 29th, 2007 , Posted in Uncategorized

Baby Bryce arrived a little early but was still over 8 pounds! This little guy is the first child for my friend Shelby & her hubby Brent. Shelby was soooo disappointed that we didn’t get to do a maternity session since she delivered almost 3 weeks early, but we did get a great newborn session. I have a feeling I’m going to be seeing a lot of this little boy in the coming year!

First Holy Communion

May 7th, 2007 , Posted in Uncategorized

I have had quite a few sessions for First Holy Communions over the past two weeks. These pictures nearly always make me want to cry…the children just look so pure and innocent, but you can catch glimpses of the women that they are going to grow up to be…and I can’t help thinking that in the blink of an eye, these girls will be in real wedding gowns.

Here are a few of Lily and Elena…aren’t they beautiful?

Seniors

May 2nd, 2007 , Posted in Uncategorized

It’s time for the senior pictures to start! Summer really IS coming, because my phone has been ringing with teens needing appointments. This is Chris, who thought we would have some nice spring weather for these images…but it was spitting snowflakes outside when he got here! You can see them in some of the images! But he was completely unbothered by the cold and we got some great shots despite the weather.

it’s a wonderful world

May 2nd, 2007 , Posted in Uncategorized

Found this cool new website that would be great to share with your kids: My Wonderful World It has tons of info and games to get kids/teens excited about geography. And some amazing info about US young adults:

How much do you know about the world?

Can
you name the world’s most spoken primary language? The largest consumer
of oil? The most heavily fortified border on the planet? The current
population of the U.S.?

We tested the geography knowledge of 18- to 24-year-olds across the U.S. to see how much they know about our world. Young Americans answered about half (54 percent) of all the survey
questions correctly. But by and large, majorities of young adults fail
at a range of questions testing their basic geographic literacy.

  • Only 37% of young Americans can find Iraq on a map—though U.S. troops have been there since 2003.
  • 6 in 10 young Americans don’t speak a foreign language fluently.
  • 20% of young Americans think Sudan is in Asia. (It’s the largest country in Africa.)
  • 48% of young Americans believe the majority population in India is Muslim. (It’s Hindu—by a landslide.)
  • Half of young Americans can’t find New York on a map.

These
results suggest that young people in the United States—the most
recent graduates of our educational system—are unprepared for an increasingly global future.
Far too many lack even the most basic skills for navigating the
international economy or understanding the relationships among people
and places that provide critical context for world events. Make sure you help your kids build the knowledge that they need!
