For those of you who aren’t on Facebook or don’t tweet, let me make this big announcement:

IT”S A GIRL!!!!

Our oldest daughter Nicole’s first baby and our third grandchild was born beautiful and healthy (after a nightmare 24 hrs. of labor, but I digress) on July 29th at 1:45am. Eislen Lily Erickson was 8 lbs, 6 oz and 19 3/4 inches long with a ton of dark hair (her name is pronounced ee-slen). Pictures will follow in about two weeks…dad Steve unfortunately suffered a severe shoulder seperation the day before the birth (a whole ‘nother story, and yes very inconvenient!) and can’t really hold her well yet for my favorite poses, but you can bet that you’ll be seeing lots of newborn photography soon!

I giggle everytime I think of Emily. When I met up with her last week to do her senior pictures, the first thing she told me, very seriously, is that she was very unphotogenic. I tried not to laugh, but I KNEW that she was ridiculously wrong. I think I have sufficient proof now to back me up:

I stopped at Nicole and Steve’s home on my way to Stacey’s the weekend before last to do some quick maternity portraits – Baby Erickson is due in just about two weeks! Jim & I are so excited to be grandparents again, and it’s even more fun because no one (including the parents) knows if this is a boy or a girl! Doesn’t she look radiant and serene?

This session set a new record for the family who traveled the farthest to do a Casual Moments session – they were living in Moscow!  OK, not really here JUST to do a session , but they are visiting family here and took advantage of the time to get some new photos done before they head off to Africa! We had a HOT day, but the kids were champs and I had a lot of fun working with them and their Mom, Aunt, and Grandma. Here is the wall display that will go in their home:

Casual Moments Photography will be taking a small break from July 9-20, answering calls and emails when possible; please leave a message!

I will be leaving tomorrow for PA to do sessions this weekend, then will be leaving for Lancaster on Sunday morning to do visit Steve & Nicole and do her maternity pictures. Yes, Baby Erickson is due in just a few more weeks, and we are all so excited! Then I am headed to Stacey & David’s for a week to watch the GrandDolls, which will be exhausting but a lot of fun. I am looking forward to spending time with them at the pool and just hanging out, and of course the chances of me getting some good images of them are better with so much time to keep at it, lol! All orders and payments received during this break will be processed as soon as I return…ok,  maybe after a day to recover from watching two little ones for a whole week!

Evan has a really busy summer scheduled, including a month at Governor’s School, so we got his senior portraits done at the end of June at Mingo Park. He was so easy and relaxed in front of the camera, and it shows!

How did it get to be 4th of July weekend already??? I feel like summer barely started! I have been busy entertaining lots of guests in the past few weeks, as well as being very busy with my photography business. I am now booked through the end of August, and will be opening up Fall sessions very soon. Now is the time to look at your calendars and think about setting aside time for your family portrait session, as well as any lingering seniors that need to have their sessions before school starts. I will be announcing my schedule in the next few days on the Blog, via newsletter, and on Facebook…and there will be a special offer for those who are Facebook Friends!
